KITS Warangal Hosts Expert Talk on Cybersecurity as Part of Student Induction Programme
 The Dean of Academic Affairs at Kakatiya Institute of Technology & Science (KITS), Warangal, organized an expert talk on "How to Save Time, Money, and Life Through Cyber Threats" across five venues on campus: the Auditorium, Silver Jubilee Seminar Hall, New Seminar Hall, Civil Seminar Hall, and Mechanical Seminar Hall. The event, which was part of the 7th day of the Student Induction Programme (SIP) for first-year B.Tech. students for the academic year 2024-25, was a significant initiative to equip students with vital cybersecurity knowledge.

The event was held in memory of late Mr. AKSSV Ramana, a proud alumnus of KITSW, and was sponsored by alumni from the 1987 and 1988 batches, including  K. Chandrasekhar Reddy, G. Venkat Reddy, . I. Ganesh Sai, and  K. RamReddy. The theme of the talk centered around Swami Vivekananda's vision of youth empowerment.

The Chief Guest, Pothireddi Madhava Reddy, a cybersecurity expert and founder of Zero Budget Politics, delivered an impactful session. He emphasized the dual nature of mobile technology, describing it as both a close friend and a potential threat, depending on its usage. He highlighted the role of common sense in protecting oneself from cybercrimes and discussed the importance of understanding technology’s implications. He also demonstrated stress-relief techniques using virtual platforms and reminded the audience that ignorance is no excuse in the eyes of the law.

Madhava Reddy urged students to apply technical skills and logical thinking to protect themselves from cyber threats while also appreciating the value of their parents and money. His message resonated with the audience, reinforcing the need for awareness and caution in the digital age.

Principal Prof. K. Ashoka Reddy highlighted the importance of applying the technical skills learned during the induction program to safeguard against cybercrimes. He noted that today’s youth, born into a world of smart technology and automation, are generally confident and ambitious, but must remain grounded and mindful of societal values.

The event also included demonstrations by Heads of Departments from various engineering disciplines, including ECE, ECI, Mechanical, Civil, EEE, CSE, CSN, CSE (AI&ML), CSE (IoT), and IT, who showcased the laboratories and equipment available to students.

In addition to Prof. K. Ashoka Reddy, the event was attended by Dean of Academic Affairs Prof. K. Venumadhav, i2 RE Head Prof. K. Rajanarender Reddy, program coordinators Dr. P. Prabhakar Rao, Dr. R. Srikanth, PRO Dr. D. Prabhakara Chary, and other faculty members. Approximately 1,150 students participated in the event, which was conducted over four successive sessions across the five venues on campus.

The former Rajya Sabha Member and KITSW Chairman, Capt. V. Lakshmikantha Rao, along with Treasurer P. Narayana Reddy and other management members, congratulated the newly admitted B.Tech. students and wished them success in their academic and professional journeys.
